Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a crazy, crazy book.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Kali is not a normal girl, but she doesn’t realize just how unique she really is. She thinks of herself as a hunter, hunting the monsters that prey on humans. But she isn’t even fully human herself.
Kali would die for her friends, even when they weren’t her friends a week ago. And they would die for her. Kali risks everything for a guy that she hasn’t technically met yet, but she knows that she is doing the right thing.
This book shows how having a “hero complex” is not a good, or bad, thing. It is important to be there for your friends and family. But it is also good to be there for yourself as well.
